Privateers Hit the Road to Face Texas A&M-Commerce, Northwestern State

NEW ORLEANS, La.- The New Orleans Privateers (6-18, SLC 3-10) are back on the road this week as they are set to meet the Texas A&M Commerce Lions Thursday and the Northwestern State Demons Saturday. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. respectively. Both games will be broadcast on ESPN + and NASH 106.1 FM with Jude Young calling the action.
The Privateers are looking to get back into the win column and work toward a berth in the SLC Tournament (March 5-8).

The Privateers are coming off a close 79-78 loss at home to McNeese. Four Privateers scored in double-figures and New Orleans shot a season-high 56% from the field. Tyson Jackson led the way with 18 points, his third consecutive game with a team high in double figures. Jackson ranks fourth in the SLC in double-doubles with four and sixth in free-throw attempts at 101. He is averaging 12 points per game in conference games only and shooting 55% from the charity stripe (39-70).

New Orleans averaged six three-pointers per game over the past nine matchups and is shooting one percent higher than opponents at .385 percent (153-397).

The Privateers are two games out of the eighth position in the SLC standings with five games to play. Through games played Feb. 12, two teams have clinched berths into the SLC Tournament (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Northwestern State) with six more spots up for grabs.

The Privateers are meeting the Lions and the Demons for the second time this season with both teams taking the first games, 63-58 against A&M-Commerce, Jan. 19, and 88-65 against Northwestern State, Jan. 21 at Lakefront Arena.
The Lions are 11-15 overall and now 7-5 in conference play, having lost their last two.
The Demons, who are now 10-3 in SLC play, defended their home court by beating A&M-Commerce 72-64 Saturday with Demarcus Sharp and Ja'Monta Block scoring 18 points each for the Demons. On the Lions' end, Demarcus Demonia scored 17 points and six rebounds.
