NEW ORLEANS – For just the third time in school history, the University of New Orleans men's basketball team (2-7, 0-1 Southland) will take on the Texas Longhorns (9-2, 0-0 SEC) with a trip to Austin, Texas on Thursday night.

James White continues to lead the Privateers and the Southland in scoring at 19.1 points per game after scoring 24 against Iowa on Sunday. White has now scored in double-figures in eight of his nine games at UNO and has a league-leading five games of 20 or more points.

The Conyers, Ga. native is also second in the conference in rebounding at 7.3 per game and ranks first in the league in defensive rebounds per game at 6.5 per outing. Freshman MJ Thomas is tied for fifth in the league in rebounding with 6.6 rebounds per game and ranks first in the league with 2.9 offensive rebounds per game.

Defensively, the Privateers continue to take the ball away from their opponents at a steady rate. KenPom has New Orleans' steal% at 11.0, the 113th best in the NCAA. The Privateers are averaging 7.9 steals per game, led by Jah Short, who is second in the league with 2.0 steals per game.

SCOUTING THE LONGHORNS
Texas enters Thursday's game with a 9-2 record, including a 6-1 mark at the Moody Center. Its losses this season are to Ohio State in the season opener and UConn at home on Dec. 8.

Texas was picked seventh in the SEC preseason poll—ahead of Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Georgia, Missouri, LSU, Oklahoma, and Vanderbilt. Tramon Mark was a third-team All-Conference pick in the preseason after spending a year with the Arkansas Razorbacks and three seasons as a Houston Cougar.
