NEW ORLEANS - The University of New Orleans men's basketball team has unveiled its schedule for the 2024-25 season under new Head Coach Stacy Hollowell. The campaign features 11 non-conference games and a 20-game Southland Conference (SLC) slate. The Privateers will face three 2024 NCAA Tournament teams, along with in-state rivals Tulane and LSU.
New Orleans will also welcome two new SLC opponents: the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) and Stephen F. Austin (SFA), which returns to the league after a three-year absence.
The season opens with a game at Kansas State, which finished last season with a 19-15 record and reached the National Invitation Tournament, on Nov. 5.
Following the season debut, New Orleans will welcome Troy for its home opener and homecoming game on Nov. 9 before facing Robert Morris, Lindenwood, and Stonehill in the Robert Morris Invitational on Nov. 14-17.
New Orleans will then compete in a Crescent City clash at Tulane on Nov. 22 before heading to Texas to play Baylor, which advanced to the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament last March as a No. 3 seed.
December 7 marks the first SLC matchup at Nicholls State before continuing the road swing to Iowa on Dec. 15 and Texas four days later. The Hawkeyes participated in the 2024 National Invitation Tournament, while the Longhorns made the 2024 NCAA Tournament and advanced to the Round of 32.
New Orleans will make short trips to LSU on Dec. 22 and McNeese on Dec. 28 before wrapping up the nonconference slate with Vanderbilt on Dec. 30.
The Privateers will usher in the new year at Lakefront Arena with a three-game homestand beginning against UTRGV on Jan. 4 followed by a three-game road swing against Lamar, Texas A&M-Commerce, and Northwestern State.
New Orleans will host Houston Christian and Incarnate Word on Jan. 25 and Jan. 27 before playing five of its next eight games at home against SFA, McNeese, Nicholls, Northwestern State, and Texas A&M-Commerce.
The regular season will conclude with crucial games against UTRGV and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, setting up a strong finish heading into the Southland Conference Championship. The championship will be held at the Legacy Center in Lake Charles, La., from March 9-12, 2025.
New Orleans Athletics will host special events and promotions throughout the season to create a vibrant atmosphere at home games, including the preseason "Meet the Krewe" event. More details will be announced soon.
