Roundtree Hits .400 as Privateers Fall to UC Riverside

NEW ORLEANS Courtney Roundtree had a .400 attack percentage and the New Orleans Privateers took the fight to UC Riverside early in each set but fell on the short end of mid-set runs in a 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-17) loss on Thursday afternoon.

The Privateers and Highlanders had only two points separated between them on the scoreboard through the first 32 rallies. From there, the Highlanders went on an 8-2 run to finish off the set in their favor. Carissa Wiles had two of her five kills in that stretch.

New Orleans was within earshot again in the second set, trailing 15-12 after the first 27 rallies. The Privateers at one point, went on their longest run of the match, scoring five consecutive points off Lani Alleman's service rotation.

However, the Highlanders' service game stood to the task with eight aces in the set. UC Riverside went on an 8-0 run near the end of the set keyed by four aces.

New Orleans was fierce again early in the set but the Highlanders fended off the challenge as they hit .323 for the match. UC Riverside also had 13 aces, one shy of tying a three-set record. Trinity Sheridan had 12 kills while Sophia Ewalefo added eight kills and four total blocks.

WE ARE YOUR KREWE
For 54 seasons, Privateer student-athletes have had the unique experience of wearing New Orleans across their chests.  Like the city itself, our sports teams have been fueled by resiliency, grit, and the unquenchable desire to win.  Our city also houses the nation's biggest celebration each year. And much like a Mardi Gras parade krewe, we are tethered to our community through pride, tradition, a culture of acceptance, and finally our commitment to show that New Orleans is a world-class city to live, learn, play and work. We invite you to become more involved with the only University that truly represents New Orleans all day, every day.  Join #NOLAsTeam, We Are Your Krewe!
