NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans men's basketball team (2-13, 0-4 Southland) will host local rival Southeastern (7-8, 1-3 Southland) at 5 p.m. Saturday at Lakefront Arena. On Monday, the team will travel to Beaumont, Texas to face the Lamar Cardinals (9-6, 4-0 Southland), with tipoff set for 7 p.m.

James White continues to lead the Privateers and the Southland Conference in scoring at 19.7 points per game after another 20-point outing (24) against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Monday. He currently ranks No. 20 in the NCAA in scoring and has scored in double figures in 14 of his 15 games at UNO, with a league-leading nine games of 20 or more points, including four of the last five. His three double-doubles this season are tied for the most in the conference.

The senior also leads the conference in rebounding at 7.4 per game and in defensive rebounds per game at 6.13. Freshman MJ Thomas ranks seventh in the league in rebounding with 6.6 per game and leads the league in offensive rebounds per game with 3.0. The Privateers and Stephen F. Austin are the only Southland schools with two players ranked in the conference's top 10 in rebounding. The Privateers rank No. 86 in the NCAA in offensive rebounds per game at 12.33, with Thomas at No. 59.

Theo Grant scored a career-high 25 points Monday in his first career start. He also broke UNO's 53-year-old record for free throw attempts in a game, shooting 23 and making 15. The previous record of 21 attempts was set by John Hamilton in 1972 against Georgia Southern. Terry Gill holds the record for free throws made in a game, with 18 set in 1971.

SCOUTING THE LIONS
Southeastern comes to Lakefront Arena with a 7-8 record this season, including a 1-3 mark in Southland Conference play. On the road, the Lions are 3-6, with wins over ULM, Tulane, and Grambling. Their road losses have come against UAB, Mississippi State, Wyoming, Nicholls, Louisiana, and McNeese.

Sam Hines Jr. ranks fifth in the Southland in both scoring, with 15.1 points per game, and rebounding, with 6.7 per game. Jakevion Buckey leads the Southland and ranks No. 75 in the NCAA with 29 steals. He is also first in the conference and No. 73 nationally in steals per game, averaging 1.93.

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
Lamar has won eight of its last nine games and will host Stephen F. Austin on Saturday night in Beaumont. On the road this season, the Cardinals are 4-3, with victories over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, UTRGV, Louisiana, and Southern Miss. Their losses have come against No. 23 Texas A&M, Akron, and Texas Tech.

The Cardinals rank No. 75 in the country in scoring defense, allowing 67.1 points per game, and No. 91 nationally in field goal percentage defense at 41.4%. This success is largely due to their 5.0 blocks per game, which ranks 33rd in the NCAA. Their best shot-blocker is Ander Holifield, who ranks 31st nationally with 1.93 blocks per game.

Alexis Marmolejos leads the Cardinals in scoring with 15.7 points per game, third in the Southland. Adam Hamilton is the team's top rebounder, averaging 6.4 per game, while Ja'Sean Jackson leads Lamar in steals with 1.87 per game.
