Trips to East Texas A&M and Northwestern State Up Next for Privateers

NEW ORLEANS – Fresh off their first win since November, the University of New Orleans men's basketball team (3-14, 1-5 Southland) is set for a pair of conference road games over the next four days. First up is a trip to East Texas A&M, formerly Texas A&M-Commerce (2-15, 0-6 Southland), on Saturday afternoon, followed by a trip to Northwestern State (7-9, 4-2 Southland) on Monday. Tipoff on Saturday is set for 2:15 p.m.

The Privateers snapped their 10-game losing streak last Monday with a 68-62 upset of Lamar in Beaumont, Texas. Dae Dae Hunter (12 points), James White (11), Turk Vincent (11), and Kohen Rowbatham (10) all finished in double figures. MJ Thomas had eight points and nine rebounds, and JR Jacobs was a key contributor off the bench with five rebounds and four assists.

James White leads UNO in scoring with 18.9 points per game and in rebounding with 7.1 rebounds per game. Thomas is averaging 6.5 rebounds per game, including 2.8 offensive rebounds. In his last three games, Jah Short is averaging 4.6 assists and 2.3 steals per game since moving into the primary ball handler role.

SCOUTING THE LIONS
East Texas A&M's two wins this season have come over Southern (B.R.) and Abilene Christian, both at home. The Lions give up 77.5 points per game while scoring 63.1. They make 28.9% of their 3-point shots while allowing opponents to hit 37.5% of their 3-point attempts.
Scooter Williams Jr. leads the Lions in scoring with 11.6 points per game. Demarco Bethea leads them in rebounding with 4.6 per game. Josh Taylor averages 1.2 blocks per game.

SCOUTING THE DEMONS
Northwestern State enters its Saturday matchup with Southeastern having lost three and won two of its last five games. The Demons are 5-2 at Prather Coliseum this season, with wins over John Melvin, North Alabama, SUNO, Nicholls, and East Texas A&M. They've dropped home contests to ULM and McNeese.
Three Demons average in double figures: Addison Patterson, Jon Sanders, and Micah Thomas. Northwestern State also boasts a deep bench, scoring 30.44 points per game, a top-25 mark in the NCAA. Jerald Colonel ranks in the top 10 in the country with 2.71 blocks per game.
