NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans cross country program will see familiar faces, and places in three of four competitive meets scheduled for this fall.
For the fourth season in a row the Privateers start across the street from campus with the Battle of New Orleans co-hosted by Tulane on Aug. 29. The women will run 4,000 meters at 5:15 p.m. with the men set to run 5,000 meters at 5:45 p.m. at Lake Oaks Park.
UNO's women finished second in last season's event with 43 points led by returning junior
Emma Bourg who finished sixth in 14:48.67. The men finished third with 110 points – of the returning Privateers
Antonio Delgado led the way with a 23
rd place finish in 15:54.79.
Next up is a trip to Mobile, Ala. for the Azalea City Classic hosted by South Alabama on Oct. 3. The women will run 6,000 meters starting at 6:05 p.m. with the men's 8,000 meters to follow. UNO last ran at the Azalea City Classic in 2018 with the men finishing in third place, and the women finishing in seventh.
The season's penultimate meet takes place on Oct. 17 when the Privateers return to College Station for the Arturo Barrios Invitational. New Orleans competed in the meet two seasons ago with the women finishing 28
th out of 41 schools, and the men finishing 34
th out of 48 schools. UNO has also run in three South Central Regionals hosted by Texas A&M at Dale Watts Cross Country Course.
The Southland Championships this year will take place on Oct. 31 outside of Walter P. Ledet Track Complex on the campus of Northwestern State. The Southland cross country championships will be broadcast on ESPN+.
Arkansas will host the NCAA South Central Regionals at Agri Park in Fayetteville, Ark. on Friday Nov. 14. The women's 6,000 meters will start at 10:30 a.m. with the men's 10,000 meters set to follow at 11:30 a.m.
Missouri will host the NCAA Championships at Gans Creek Cross Country Course on Nov. 22.
