Men's Basketball to Host Stephen F. Austin, Lamar

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers men's basketball team will play a pair of home games against Stephen F. Austin on Saturday followed by a Monday night tilt against Lamar at Lakefront Arena.

New Orleans (6-11, 4-4) won in thrilling fashion on Monday night when Coleton Benson sank a three-pointer with 0.1 seconds left to defeat Southeastern 79-76. Benson had his second game of at least 30 points on the season.

Benson provided a highlight when his three bounced in with 0.1 seconds left in the Privateers' 79-76 win against Southeastern. It was the first basket to give the Privateers a lead in the final second since Bo McCalebb's buzzer beater against North Texas in February 2007. T.J. Worley had a game-winning three in November 2007 against North Carolina State, which was the Privateers' last win over a top-25 team.

The Privateers made 31 free throws against Southeastern on Monday night in 39 attempts. The 31 points at the line are a season high.

The last time the Privateers made that many free throws in a game was when they sank 31 against Dillard in December 2022. New Orleans is second in the Southland in team free throw percentage at 75.9.

Churchill Abass set a new career-high with five blocks against Southeastern on Monday night. That brings his total to 30 rejections on the season with 14 regular season games remaining.

Abass is 11 blocks away from cracking the top 10 in program history for blocks in a single season. Makur Puou (2016) and Asrangue Souleymane (2006) are tied for 10th in that category.
