OFFICIAL ALLSTATE SUGAR BOWL RELEASE | NEW ORLEANS SPORTS HALL OF FAME BIO: Bo McCalebb
NEW ORLEANS — University of New Orleans Hall of Famer Bo McCalebb is set to join another prestigious group Wednesday when he will be inducted into the Allstate Sugar Bowl New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame.
The O. Perry Walker High School graduate and New Orleans native rewrote both the Privateers and Sun Belt Conference record books during his time on the Lakefront. McCalebb played in 128 games from 2003 to 2008 — the most in program history until Troy Green surpassed him in 2021. During that stretch, he scored 2,679 points. That total remains the UNO record by nearly 800 points and the Sun Belt Conference record by more than 300 points.
Bo currently ranks No. 36 all time on the NCAA Division I scoring list and is one of just 50 players to score more than 2,600 points in a career. He finished among the nation's top 10 scorers three times, ranking fifth in 2004-05, sixth in 2006-07 and ninth in 2007-08, and led the Sun Belt Conference in scoring in three of his four healthy seasons. His 977 made field goals are the most in school and Sun Belt Conference history. He also ranks fifth in school history with 378 career assists.
Not just an offensive star, McCalebb finished his career with 250 steals, the most in school history and the fourth most in Sun Belt Conference history. He remains the only student-athlete in program history to earn conference Defensive Player of the Year honors, doing so following the 2007-08 season.
Bo was an Associated Press honorable mention All-American following the 2006-07 season and earned All-America honors from Mid-Major Madness/CollegeInsider.com after the 2007-08 campaign. In addition to four All-Sun Belt Conference selections, he was named Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year after the 2003-04 season and Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year following the 2006-07 season.
He went on to enjoy a decorated professional career in Europe, playing for Mersin BB, Partizan, Montepaschi Siena, Fenerbahce, Bayern Munich, Limoges CSP, Gran Canaria and Zaragoza. Bo earned All-EuroLeague honors in 2010 and 2013 and won 13 combined league championships and cups from 2010 to 2016. He also led the Macedonian national team to the bronze medal game at EuroBasket 2011 and was named to the All-Tournament Team after averaging 21.4 points per game.
McCalebb is joined by Super Bowl winning quarterbacks Eli and Peyton Manning in a star-studded New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2026. He is the 13th former Privateer selected since 1995 and the fifth men's basketball player to receive the honor.
Over the past three years, he has been inducted into the Privateer Athletics Hall of Fame (2023) and the Louisiana Basketball Hall of Fame (2025), and had his jersey retired by UNO in 2026.
Other Privateers in the New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame include Sandra Hodge (1995), Randy Bush (1996), Ron Maestri (1996), Ron Greene (1998), Wayne Cooper (2000), Jim Bullinger (2005), Augie Schmidt (2005), Javonne Brooks (2011), Wally Whitehurst (2015), Ervin Johnson (2018), Tim Floyd (2020) and Carvie Upshaw (2022).
The induction ceremony will take place Wednesday evening at Caesars Superdome. Photos and video will be available on @PrivateerHoops social media channels later that evening and the following day.
