NEW ORLEANS — Former University of New Orleans All-American guard Bo McCalebb reiterated how much he loved his time on the Lakefront as he was inducted into the Allstate Sugar Bowl's New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame on Wednesday night.

After a video detailing his journey from O. Perry Walker High School standout to European basketball star, McCalebb sat down on stage for an interview with former "Voice of the Privateers" Ken Trahan. The pair discussed their time together at UNO, his 78-point game in high school, his recruitment by former head coach Monte Towe and his memories of playing for the Privateers.
"It (the university) means everything to me. I wouldn't have picked any other place. I love the city; I love the university, and I'm just glad I made the choice to go there," McCalebb said as he wrapped up his conversation with Trahan, drawing a standing ovation from the packed house.
Wednesday evening was the fourth major honor for McCalebb in the past three years. He was inducted into the New Orleans Privateers Athletics Hall of Fame in 2023 and the
Louisiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 2025. Prior to the Privateers' home game against HCU in December, McCalebb saw his No. 1 retired and his jersey hung from the rafters at Lakefront Arena.
McCalebb played in 128 games at UNO between 2003 and 2008 — a school record at the time. He scored 2,679 career points, a mark that remains the record both the UNO and in the Sun Belt Conference. His 977 career field goals are also records for both UNO and the Sun Belt.
Not just a threat on the offensive end, McCalebb also excelled defensively. His 250 career steals rank No. 1 in UNO history and No. 4 in Sun Belt history. He was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year following the 2006-07 campaign.
He was an All-American following the 2007-08 season and earned All-Sun Belt honors in each of his four healthy seasons as a Privateer. He was named Sun Belt Freshman of the Year in 2003-04 and Sun Belt Player of the Year in 2006-07.
McCalebb was joined in the New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2026 by Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks Eli and Peyton Manning. Brother Martin football and track-and-field standout Easton Royal and LSU gymnast Kailin Chio were named this year's Corbett Award winners. Former Tulane football coach Jon Sumrall was named the Outstanding College Coach of the Year.
