Privateers Upset Division Rivals Lafayette

The University of New Orleans women's volleyball team returned to the win column defeating in state rival Louisiana-Lafayette 3-1 (31-29, 30-22, 28-30, 30-23). Melissa Caravella's 500th career kill in game three highlighted the Privateer victory. Junior middle blocker Mary Wanko had 15 kills, 12 digs, 8 blocks, and .444 hitting percentage while freshman Jennifer Cruz led in the kill column with 16.

New Orleans held Lafayette to a negative (-.048) hitting percentage in game two to take a Commanding 2-0 lead. The Ragin' Cajuns rallied back in game three coming from behind to win 30-28 behind Clarice Laires, who had seven of her twenty four kills in the game, to force a game four. The Privateers were all business in game four with seventeen kills and a strong block to finish the match.
