Privateers Finish Regular Season With Road Trips to McNeese, Nicholls

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers volleyball team will finish out their regular season campaign with a pair of in-state road matches against McNeese on Tuesday and Nicholls on Thursday. Both matches are scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start.

The Privateers are coming off a 3-0 victory over Lamar in their home finale. New Orleans stopped one of the hottest teams in the league in their tracks, ending the longest active winning streak in the conference at 10 matches.

Alessandra Meoni and Vanae Sapp each had double-doubles in the victory while Ania Anderson led the team in kills with 15 on the day.

The Privateers held Lamar to a .160 attack percentage. It was the third time they held an opponent under .200 in attack percentage in Southland play and the lowest opponent attack percentage since Oct. 11.

Defne Eciroglu is 47 assists away from climbing another spot to eighth in the program's career list. Eciroglu had her sixth match with double-digit assists and digs this season on Saturday when she went for 35 and 11 against Lamar. For the season, Eciroglu has 652 assists and 189 digs.

Anderson's 15 kills were a new career mark, surpassing the 13 she had in late September against Providence. Anderson has 103 kills in 50 sets played this season and has registered four matches of 10 or more kills.

The Privateers lost to McNeese in five sets earlier this season and earned a five-set win over Nicholls as they played the two teams to open conference play. Meoni and Laura Piva combined for 36 kills against Nicholls. Courtney Roundtree had 15 kills to lead the offense against McNeese.
