Privateers Fall to Lady Trojans in Tough Battle

In a rematch of the 2000 Sun Belt Conference championship match, the University of New Orleans volleyball team fell to Arkansas-Little Rock, 2-3, at Trojan Fieldhouse.

Trailing two games to one, the Privateers overcame a 5-point deficit to win the fourth game, 30-27, and force a deciding fifth game. The Lady Trojans won the fifth game, 15-13. The Privateers have played four five-game matches this season and have lost three.

Senior Cathy Hughes (Louisville, Ky.) set a career-high with 10 kills and sophomore Kneckie Stallsworth (Mobile, Ala.) had a career-high 15 kills. Junior Melissa Caravella (Violet, La.) matched her career mark, with a match-high 19 kills in a match and added 13 digs for her first double-double this season. Senior Liz Matsko (Mandeville, La.) also set a career mark tying for match-high honors with 14 digs in the match.

The Privateers return home to face South Florida, Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Lakefront Auxiliary gym.
