In a match which was originally scheduled to be played at Southern University, the Privateers defeated the Lady Jaguars, 3-0 (30-16, 30-15, 30-20) in New Orleans at the Lakefront Auxiliary Gym.
Senior Cathy Hughes (Louisville, Ky.) led the Privateers with 10 kills in 12 attempts. Junior Mary Wanko (Kenner, La.) added 9 kills and freshman Jennifer Cruz (Houston, Texas) chipped in seven kills. Five players had at least five digs with senior Ann MacMillan (Dalesville, Ind.) and junior Melissa Caravella (Vioet, La.) each grabbing six digs. Cruz and senior Liz Matsko (Mandeville, La.) tied for the lead in aces with three each.
