Box Score NEW ORLEANS - The University of New Orleans volleyball team won its third match in its last four outings following a 3-0 win (25-20, 25-11, 25-11) over Louisiana-Monroe on Tuesday evening at the Human Performance Center.
Senior outside hitter Lindsey Loyd had 13 kills, while sophomore hitter Maria Szivos had 13 kills on a .632 hitting percentage to help the Privateers (17-11, 10-6 Sun Belt Conference) move a game behind first-place Denver in the SBC West Division.
Edina Dobi contributed 10 kills and 10 digs, and libero Nicky Valenti had a match-high 11 digs.
Three hitters paced ULM (3-28, 0-16) with four kills each. The Warhawks were held to a .071 hit percentage.
The Privateers struggled at times during the opening set, hitting just .097 in taking the five-point win. But UNO hit its stride in the second set, hitting a stellar .467 to take the commanding 2-0 lead. The Privateers took control by taking 17 of the set's final 21 points.
UNO closed it out with a .452 percentage in the final set.
The Privateers will continue league play at 7 p.m. on Friday at Louisiana-Lafayette.
