Box Score 2 JACKSON, Miss. - The University of New Orleans volleyball team concluded its two-day stay at the Jackson State Tiger Invitational on Saturday by dropping a pair of matches to Southeastern Louisiana and North Texas at the T.B. Ellis Gymnasium.
UNO (0-3) fell to SLU 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-23) on Saturday morning before dropping to NT by a similar 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-13) verdict in the final match of the day.
The Privateers hit at a .078 clip for the weekend as they struggled to generate a consistent offensive attack. All-Tournament selection Edina Dobi was the top attacking player on the weekend, adding nine kills in each of the Saturday matches and completing a three-match string of matches in which she hit .292.
In the opening match of the day against SLU (2-1), Cassidy Asebroek dished out 23 assists with Lauren Massulla equaling her career-high from the night before with 19 digs from the back row.
The win was the second in a row for SLU, who was led by Courtney Donald's 11 kills. The Lions hit .260 for the match including a .538 clip in the second frame. Arianne Cruckshank had 29 assists with Alex Greer topping the team with 11 digs.
The Lions had a fair share of success at the net, blocking 13 Privateer attack attempts with Allison Jones, Stephanie Mueller and Paige Dollison having a hand on three apiece.
In the night cap, Kaitlin Hatcher added six kills to Dobi's total against JSU tournament champion NT (3-0). Hatcher, who is making the move to outside hitter from the back row, had 18 kills on the weekend.
Asebroek narrowly missed a double-double with 18 assists and nine digs against the Mean Green. Alexis Daigle tied Asebroek for team-high dig efforts with nine.
NT was led by Rachelle Wilson's seven kills as two other players added six apiece. Kayla Saey had a match-high 22 assists with Kristin Petrasic tallying eight digs. The Mean Green had nine blocks in the match, including eight solo stuffs of UNO attempts.
UNO will return home for a 6 p.m. match on Wednesday night against Southern-New Orleans at the Lakefront Auxiliary Gym. The contest will be the first in the Auxiliary Gym since 2004.

Newcomers Samantha Hauck and Julia Hopfer made their Privateer debuts in the match against NT... Other UNO players making their debut over the weekend included Kaitlyn Crippin, Kayla McGee, Ashley Henderson, Lauren Massulla and Alexis Daigle.
