Privateers Fall to North Alabama in GSC Volleyball Contest

NEW ORLEANS – North Alabama's offense overwhelmed the University of New Orleans in a 3-0 (25-6, 25-19, 25-18) victory on Friday night at the Human Performance Center.

Jessica Ronyak totaled 12 kills without an error in 18 attempts to pace a UNA (18-5, 7-2 Gulf South Conference) offense that hit .283 for the match. Priscilla Massengale added 10 kills with a single error in 19 attempts.

Hope Rayburn tallied 32 assists for the Lions, who received a match-high 17 digs from Lauren Greenhill.

Tory Hearn and Jasmyne Walker posted five kills apiece for UNO (2-15, 0-9 GSC). Laila Hansen added four kills for the Privateers while Ryan Hamilton distributed 11 assists.

In the opening frame, UNA took advantage of Cara Gregg's serve to turn a 6-3 advantage into a 20-point margin at 23-3. The Lions hit .481 for the frame and claimed the set 25-5.

UNO led most of the second set before UNA gained control late in the frame at 17-16. The Lions turned back the Privateers' efforts to move ahead, taking a 2-0 advantage into the break after a 25-19 victory.

UNA closed out the match with a 25-18 win in the third and final frame.

The Privateers will return to action on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Christian Brothers before closing their homestand with a 7 p.m. contest on Tuesday against crosstown rival Xavier (La.).
