NEW ORLEANS - The University of New Orleans volleyball team will host crosstown foe Xavier on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the team's annual 'Think Pink' volleyball match which will be held at the Human Performance Center.

The evening volleyball match is the nightcap of a busy day for UNO's athletic department that features a 'Mid-Day Madness' event at 12 p.m. to kickoff the 2011-12 basketball season.

As part of the 'Think Pink' festivities throughout the day, information on breast cancer will be available from the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The UNO athletic department will also be selling pink Crocs in which proceeds will be directed to the Komen Foundation.

The headline entertainment for the 'Think Pink' match will come after the second set when the Lady Privateer women's basketball team will team with UNO fraternity members to challenge members of the Privateer men's basketball team alongside UNO sorority members in an exhibition volleyball contest.

In addition, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame is scheduled to be in attendance at the volleyball match to get footage for an exhibit at the newly-opened museum in Natchitoches, La.

On the court, UNO (2-16) will look to get back in the win column against a XULA (15-6) squad that handed them a 3-0 setback on Oct. 5 at The Barn. In the previous encounter, the Privateers were their own worst enemy contributing 46 points to the Gold Nuggets by way of errors.

UNO will get a boost this go-around as the team will be playing on its home floor and with the services of Laila Hansen, who missed the previous match against XULA. The Privateers also enter Tuesday's contest after two of the team's better performances in Gulf South Conference play.

Though UNO fell 3-0 to both GSC matches this past weekend, UNO highlights were aplenty particularly in Saturday's loss to Christian Brothers. In the setback to the Lady Bucs, UNO tied their team-highs for blocks (six) and aces (four) within GSC play

The Golden Nuggets are led by Taylor Reuther who ranks No. 7 in NAIA in service aces per set (0.630) and No. 46 in kills per set (3.48). XULA need either a victory against Southern-New Orleans or Dillard in their final two Gulf Coast Athletic Conference games to claim their first-ever regular season title.
