ATU Runs Home Win Streak to 38 Games

UNO-ATU Box Score

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – No. 4 Arkansas Tech flexed its muscles early and defeated the University of New Orleans 110-59 on Saturday afternoon at Tucker Coliseum.

The win was the 38th consecutive victory at home for ATU (2-0). The Golden Suns became the first foe to top 100 points against UNO (0-3) since Middle Tennessee claimed a 102-57 victory on Dec. 30, 2009.

Leading the Lady Privateers by one-point at 9-8, ATU  went on a 13-0 run and before long had jumped out to a 22-8 advantage. The Golden Suns shot 64.9 percent for the first half and entered the break with a 59-29 lead.

Katie Horsman scored a game-high 21 points as ATU's lead grew to as many as 52 points in the second half. Natalia Santos netted a double-double for ATU with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

UNO was led by Megan Buckley and Mirjam Sipos with 13 and 12 points, respectively. Buckley's total was just one point off her career-high of 14 established last season at Loyola.

Keri Thomas added eight points. Thomas scored six of the first eight points the Lady Privateers put on the scoreboard, eclipsing her career high of three points in the game's opening minutes.

Noticeably absent amongst the UNO leaders was Yosha Watson, who saw her string of double-double performances to
start her collegiate career come to a halt. Watson scored a single point and grabbed three rebounds while dealing with four fouls.

UNO will head Uptown on Monday to face Tulane at 7 p.m. The Lady Privateers lead the all-time series against the Green Wave 30-18, but have not played since 2003.
