MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The University of New Orleans women's basketball team will ends its 11-day break by contesting the Huntingdon Holiday Classic on Thursday and Friday.

UNO (0-11) will face Faulkner on Thursday night before contesting Auburn-Montgomery on Friday night. Both games will take place at 9 p.m. and are against NAIA competition.

The 11-day hiatus is part of a NCAA Division II mandate requiring teams take time off during the holiday season. The Lady Privateers last took to the court on Dec. 18, falling 49-41 to North Alabama at Lakefront Arena.

The game was another in a string of tough losses during the month of December for a UNO team that was either tied or led late in contests against Dillard (Dec. 1) and West Florida (Dec. 14).

In the contest against UNA, the Lady Privateers led at the half for the first time this year, but was victimized by a field goal drought that lasted over 10 minutes of playing time.

Mirjam Sipos scored 10 points in the loss against the Lions and has been the Lady Privateers' top scorer in four of the last five outings. On the season, Sipos is averaging 12.8 points per contest for head coach Keeshawn Carter.

Sipos added eight rebounds in the contest against UNA and is one of four active players with at least three rebounds per game. The others are Kayla Chaney (4.3), Keri Thomas (3.2) and Tiffany Wallace (3.1).

The opponents this weekend will present a challenge for the Lady Privateers.

Faulkner (9-4) has already defeated a Division II foe, besting Montevallo on Dec. 19 in their last contest.

The Lady Eagles are led by Brittany Carter, who averages 16.5 points and 13.5 rebounds per contest. The rebounding mark ranks Carter at the top of the NAIA statistical leaders.

Christina Hayes is second on the Faulkner roster with 14.8 points per contest, though Hayes missed the last game while undergoing tests for a severe migraine headache. The guard is shooting 33 of 72 from beyond the arc for a 45.8 percent clip.

AUM (5-5) will face UNO for the third time in two seasons. Last season, the road team won both games with the Lady Senators claiming a 60-50 win in New Orleans before falling before falling 64-58 in Montgomery.

Keisha Moore is the leading scorer with 12 points per game and has reached double-figures in five of the last six contests for head coach Dan Davis. Moore also leads AUM in assists (2.1) and steals (1.9).

Following the neutral site tournament, UNO will turn its attention to a pair of contests against nearby institutions. The Lady Privateers will face Loyola on Jan. 2 at The Den before taking on Southeastern La. on Jan. 4 in Hammond, La.
