NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans volleyball team rolled to their second straight win, defeating Southern-New Orleans 3-0 (27-25, 25-18, 25-18) on Wednesday night in The Castle.

Jasmyne Walker led UNO (2-4) with 12 kills as the Privateers picked up their first victory away from home. Walker only had a single attack errors in 18attempts, helping UNO out-hit SUNO (3-2) .260 to .025 for the match.

Laila Hansen and Elena Villar added 10 and seven kills, respectively for the Privateers. Ryan Hamilton steered the attack with 30 assists with Jessie Mouton posting 12 digs. Hansen rounded out a double-double with 10 digs.

Reigning Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) Player of the Week Zipporah Washington totaled 10 kills, but also struggled against the UNO defense, posting 11 attack errors in 45 attempts. Gabrielle Carter had 22 assists for the Knights.

The first set was back and forth with the teams combining for eight lead changes and 16 ties.

SUNO had two opportunities to win the set with Walker and Villar pounding down kills to prevent the frame victory for the hosts. Hansen ultimately delivered the set-winning kill for the Privateers to close out a 27-25 victory.

UNO came out swinging in the second set, storming out to a 10-4 advantage as the Knights posted six errors in their first 10 attack attempts of the frame. The Privateers won the set 25-18, out-hitting SUNO .308 to .000 in the process.

There was no turning back in the third set as UNO jumped out to an 11-2 lead.  The Privateers' defense once more stepped up as the Knights struggled to a -0.067 hitting clip in the final set with the visitors shutting the door with a 25-18 victory.

The Privateers will next hit the road for a Saturday contest at Centenary. First serve in the Gold Dome is scheduled for 4 p.m.
