FLORENCE, Ala. – North Alabama improved their home record to 5-0 with a 3-0 (25-7, 25-13, 25-19) victory over the University of New Orleans on Friday night at Flowers Hall.

UNA (11-2) won for the second time this week and improved the likelihood that they would return to American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) national rankings next week. The Lions fell out of the poll this past week and is the first team in the 'also receiving votes' category.

Cara Gregg led UNA with 11 kills and a .474 hitting percentage.  The Lions tallied nine blocks for the match with Natalie Marsh posting one solo stuff with eight assisted blocks.

The loss dropped UNO to 2-7 on the season and 1-4 away from home.

Laila Hansen was the top hitter for the Privateers, pounding down 10 kills for the match. Hansen's double-digit kill performance was her sixth of the year.

As a squad, UNO improved its hitting percentage in each frame starting with a -.071 clip in the opening stanza before reaching 0.042 and .240 in the second and third sets, respectively.

After a rough opening set, UNO jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the second frame and led as late as 12-11. The Lions turned the tables and scored 14 of the set's final 16 points to gain control and claim the frame 25-13.

The Privateers got ahead early in the third set, but once more UNA put together a run. With the score knotted at 14, the Lions scored four straight points to get in the driver's seat through the frame's finish.

UNO was scheduled to head to Memphis, Tenn. after the match ahead of Saturday's contest against Christian Brothers. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. with live stats and video available on GoBucsGo.com.
