NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans men's basketball program will play at The Castle for the first time since Jan. 13, 1974 when they visit Southern-New Orleans on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

The game will be broadcast on WGSO 990 AM and WGSO.com.

UNO (15-12) has won all six previous matchups against SUNO (12-12), including an 82-71 result this past Jan. 19 at Lakefront Arena.

The series has been played at several spots around town with the Privateers leaving the Human Performance Center, Municipal Auditorium, the Superdome and The Castle with victories since the first match-up on Dec. 3, 1973.

In the previous meeting against the Knights, UNO made 10 three-pointers, one shy of their season-high.

The Privateers have found success from long-range as of late, connecting on at least six three-pointers in their last seven games. The current run includes five games of at least 40 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

Prior to this seven-game stretch, UNO had only made six or more three-pointers in six of the team's first 20 contests. The Privateers' top three-point shooter is Max Banchy with 34 makes in 82 attempts for a 41.5 percent clip.

Brandon Canady has factored into the three-point success, making four three-pointers in a pair of contests during the current run. The guard has scored 16 or more points in three of the last four games, which has bolstered his scoring average on the season from 3.9 to 5.4 points an outing.

Lovell Cook remains the top scorer on the team overall with 13.9 points per game with Antonio Wertz a step behind at 10.9. Cook scored a season-low three points against Hawaii on Tuesday, ending an 11-game run in which he scored double-figures.

SUNO has dropped three in a row entering the weekend.

Clyde Moore is the top scorer for the Knights at 17.3 points per game while leading the team with a 63.1 percent effort from the field. Moore was held to eight points in the previous meeting against UNO with his 3 of 9 shooting performance ranking as one of his lowest on the season.

A very active player on both sides of the ball, Moore also leads SUNO in rebounding (7.8) and steals (1.5).

The contest against the Knights continues a four-game road stretch for the Privateers, who will travel to Christian Brothers (Feb. 22) and Delta State (Feb. 23) this week. UNO fell to CBU 78-68 on Dec. 31 before defeating DSU 81-59 on Jan. 14 in previous meetings against the teams.

The Privateers' home finale is scheduled for Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. at the HPC against Champion Baptist.
