NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans rallied from an eight-point deficit in the final 10 minutes of play to defeat Southern-New Orleans 79-75 at The Castle on Saturday night.

Brandon Canady hit back-to-back three-pointers just under the five minute mark to key the rally for UNO (16-12). SUNO (12-13) contributed to the Privateers' rally by missing five free throws over the final two minutes and finished 23 of 38 from the line for the game.

Lovell Cook led UNO with 21 points, which included a 9 of 11 performance from the line. Antonio Wertz notched a double-double, continuing a trend of double-double efforts in road wins with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

The Privateers shot 49 percent from the field and were aided heavily by Brandon Knight's seven assists with just one turnover. Knight rebounded from his rough outing against Hawaii to add 11 points to his total.

Clyde Moore was the top scorer for SUNO with 17 points with Kevin Dukes adding 10 more.  The Privateers forced 21 turnovers for the Knights.

The win improved UNO to 7-0 all-time and 2-0 in The Castle, where the Privateers played for the first time since 1974.

UNO will hit the road for two this week as they visit Christian Brothers (Feb. 22) and Delta State (Feb. 23). The Privateers' home finale is Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. at the Human Performance Center against Champion Baptist.
