NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans in partnership with the Southland Conference will host a press conference to make a joint announcement regarding conference membership this Thursday, August 23rd at 11 a.m. in the Privateer Room at Lakefront Arena.
UNO President Peter J. Fos and Southland Conference Commissioner Tom Burnett will address the media and guests.
UNO has been a member of NCAA Division I since 1975 and will compete as a NCAA Division I Independent in 13 of 14 sports during the 2012-13 school year. The lone exception is the Privateer men's tennis team, which is scheduled to participate as an affiliate member of the Southland and will be eligible for the league's championship in the sport.
