NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans volleyball team will continue its homestand with a contest on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Human Performance Center against future Southland Conference rival Houston Baptist.

Sunday's match will be streamed live on the UNO Showcase.

UNO (3-8) enters the weekend on a six-match losing streak and will be playing just its second home contest of the campaign. The Privateers won the opening stanza of its previous outing against McNeese before falling in the next three sets.

Laila Hansen had a team-high nine kills in Tuesday's match and currently paces the UNO offense with 2.85 kills per set. Brionne Smith and Marti Richmiller currently add another 2.20 and 2.00 kills a frame for the Privateers with the trio accounting for roughly 70% of the team's offense.

On the defensive side of the floor, UNO will look to rebound from a rough outing against MSU.

Opponents are hitting .266 against the Privateers this year, including a .413 clip for the Cowgirls earlier in the week. The mark is the second-highest amongst UNO opponents this year.

Stopping the HBU (8-8) offense will be critical for success. Heather Leaverton and Jasmine Casey are the top attackers on the Huskies' roster with 3.36 and 3.35 kills, respectively. Two other players average at least 2.6 kills a set for HBU.

The Huskies have played several of the same opponents as UNO with different results. While both teams hold victories against Prairie View A&M, HBU also owns positive results over Lamar and MSU.

UNO will play a pair of mid-week contests following Sunday's match. The Privateers will face Jackson State on the road at 7 p.m. on Tuesday before hosting Southern on Wednesday at the HPC in a contest slated for a 7 p.m. first serve.
