NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Privateers volleyball team takes to the road this week with tilts at Sam Houston State and Lamar. The Privateers face the Bearkats on Thursday and the Cardinals on Saturday with first serve set for 7 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
The Privateers (3-19, 0-9) are led by senior
Marti Richmiller with 149 kills, while sophomore
Celeste Ramirez leads the team with 378 assists. Sophomore
Lauren Levy is atop the team in digs with 267 and sophomore
Taylor Berry leads the Privateers with 45 blocks.
The Bearkats (10-7, 7-1) are one of the top teams in the Southland, and leading Sam Houston to elite status are seniors Tayler Gray and Haley Neisler. Gray ranks fourth in the league in assists per set (10.42), while Neisler is fourth in blocks with 54.
For the Cardinals (6-14, 4-4), senior Sierra Whittaker leads the team with a 3.48 kills per set average that ranks her fifth in the Southland. She joined the school's 1,000 career kills club last week against Incarnate Word.
