NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Privateers volleyball team returns from their weeklong break as they travel up to Hammond and play in-state and Southland rival Southeastern Louisiana this Saturday.
The Privateers (3-23, 0-13 Southland) will get their second look at the Lions this season as UNO hopes to open the final month of the regular season with a win. Meanwhile, SLU (9-16, 3-10 SLC) is hoping to continue their two-game winning streak. These teams last met on October 15 in New Orleans with SLU winning a thrilling four-setter 3-1.
For the Privateers,
Celeste Ramirez is eyeing a pair of milestones in two statistical categories. Ramirez needs just 19 digs to hit 200 for the season, and she is also 17 assists away from reaching 500 for the year.
Ariane Labrzycki can also reach a milestone, needing just two digs to reach 100 for the year.
Lauren Levy continues to lead the Privateer defense with 310 digs and a 3.56 digs per set average (tied for 14
th in the SLC).
Marti Richmiller leads the team in kills with 183, good for a 2.10 kills per set average.
The Lions have been solid at home with a 6-5 record, and they have also been competitive this season with 15 or their 25 matches going beyond three sets. Sophomore Mikayla Shippy leads the SLU front with 839 assists and a 9.22 assists per set average (6
th, SLC). Sophomore Morgan Todd leads the Lions' defense with a 4.32 digs per set average (6
th, SLC) and is three shy of 400 for the year. Sophomore Tiffany Thomas leads a solid SLU offense with 264 kills.
The match gets set for 2 p.m. this Saturday afternoon at Southeastern's University Center. UNO follows that with their final home stand of the year as they host Northwestern State on November 7 and Stephen F. Austin on November 9.
