NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Privateers men's basketball team host nationally renowned Boise State Saturday for a live televised tilt on Cox Sports Television in the Lakefront Arena at 11 a.m. The game will be followed by the women welcoming Jacksonville State at 1 p.m.
The Privateers (1-1) are coming off of a hard-fought loss to LSU on Tuesday night that saw New Orleans hold their own with the Tigers. New Orleans trailed by only four points – 32-28 – at halftime before LSU pulled away late in the second half. In the game, senior forward Cory Dixon showed his prowess with an 18-point, 8-rebound effort against the Tigers.
Dixon enters the game against Boise State leading the Privateers in scoring (18.0 ppg), rebounding (10.0 rpg) and blocks (2.5 bpg) per game. Twice this season, Dixon has tied his career-best scoring effort with 18 points.
Also making their season debuts against LSU were senior guard Tradarrius McPhearson and junior guard/forward Matt Derenbecker. McPhearson started the game, scoring 5 points in 13 minutes of game action, while Derenbecker had 8 points and 8 rebounds off the bench.
Boise State (3-0) defeated Seattle Tuesday night, 86-68, in part to a 25-point performance by Anthony Drmic. Drmic scored 23 of his 25 points in the second half, and comes into Saturday's contest leading the Broncos with a 25 points per game average. The Broncos also return their entire starting five from last year's team that received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
In the win against Seattle, Boise State had four players in double digits and made 9 of 28 3-pointers, while only committing 6 turnovers as a team. In every game this season, Boise has made at least 9 3-pointers.
The Privateers women's team will follow the men's contest with a 1 p.m. game against Jacksonville State. The Privateers (0-3) are coming off of a 111-38 loss to Mississippi State, while Jacksonville State (1-3) is fresh off its first win on the season over Kennesaw State, 78-65.

Mathilde Fogelstrom is atop the team in rebounding with an 8.0 per outing average. The Gamecocks are led by Candace Morton, averaging 17.8 point and 8.8 rebounds per game. As a team, Jacksonville State is averaging 39.0 rebounds per game.
Tip-off for the men's game is set for 11 a.m. with the game being televised on Cox Sports Television and on ESPN3 outside of the local viewing market, and the women will tip at 1 p.m. Prior to the men's game starting at 10 a.m., there will be a pre-game event called "PJ's, Pancakes, and Privateers" that encourages students to come to the game in pajamas, and will be served free pancakes courtesy of Lagniappe Ministries. There will also be a photo booth and other unique tailgating opportunities for students and fans to participate in.
