Privateers Fall at Stephen F. Austin to open Southland Play

NACOGDOCHES – The New Orleans Privateers volleyball team fell victim to the Stephen F. Austin Lady Jacks, 3-0 (25-23, 25-15, 25-8) to open Southland Conference play on Thursday night.

In the defeat, the Privateers (2-11, 0-1) were led by junior Kelsea Hundtoft with 6 kills and 5 digs, while senior Marti
Richmiller led the team with 13 digs.  Senior Nandi Brown contributed 5 kills in the loss as well.

The Lady Jacks (9-4, 0-1) received a strong effort from Jacque Allen and Kaitlyn Granger with 13 and 11 kills, respectively. 
Paige Holland also put forth 36 assists, while C.J. Olson had 26 digs in the win.

New Orleans' closet set came in the first of the game, taking SFA down to the wire in a 25-23 match, but the Privateers could not rally in the ensuing sets in the defeat.  In the first set, UNO sported a 51 percent team attack percentage.

The Privateers will travel to Northwestern State on Saturday before playing at the friendly confines of the Human Performance Center on Thursday, September 26 versus Oral Roberts.
