HAMMOND, La. – The New Orleans Privateers men's basketball team stays perfect in the all-time series against Southeastern, leaving the University Center with a 90-85 win on Thursday night.

With the win, New Orleans is now 8-0 all-time against Southeastern.  In addition, the Privateers are currently riding a three-game win streak with all victories coming on the road in conference play.

"I am a really proud of the guys; I wish that I had something more profound to say, but our identity is a grind it out kind of team and that's what we did tonight," said Head Coach Mark Slessinger.  "It is great to have a contingent of supporters that travel to our games.  When I look behind me and see Dr. Fos, Dr. Sewell and Dr. Kemker just to name a few, it is truly a special feeling and means the world to our team to have their support."

The Privateers (8-9, 5-4) were once again led by freshman dynamo Christavious Gill with 21 points off the bench.  Gill has now recorded a career-high in four straight games since returning from injury.  The Lions were led by swingman JaMichael Hawkins with 23 points on 7-of-15 shooting.

Following Gill in double-figures were Cory Dixon with 18, Tradarrius McPhearson with 15, Isaac Mack and Tevin Broyles with 13 and 11, respectively.  Broyles 11 points were a new career-high.

"They're all really hard-workers and it is paying off for each and every one of them.  I am really excited about their development and all of our freshmen.  They play with poise and promise, and the sky is the limit moving forward.  Games like this show how quickly they have grown up," said Slessinger about his freshmen class.

Following a halftime tie at 39, the Privateers extended their lead to ten points – 80-70 – courtesy a Broyles follow-up tip in with 4:10 remaining in the contest.  However, the Lions did not go quietly into the night as Southeastern cut the deficit to five with 19 ticks left on the clock, but that is as close as the Lions would come at gaining a win.

The Privateers will have off this Saturday before taking to the road to end its five-game road swing with the final leg at Oral Roberts on Thursday, February 6 and Central Arkansas on Saturday, February 8.

New Orleans next home game comes against Nicholls State on Thursday, February 13, with the game serving as homecoming.
