Privateers Take on McNeese State on Senior Night

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Privateers volleyball team (6-23, 0-15 Southland) will close the 2014 regular season on Tuesday night against the McNeese State Cowgirls (14-16, 4-10). First serve will be set for 6:30 p.m.

Senior Night festivities will also be held with the Privateers' two seniors, Kelsea Hundtoft and Ashley Everett set to take part in the final match of their collegiate careers. Both players are two-year letter winners having come to the program in 2013.

Hundtoft was one of two players to go over 100 kills and digs in 2013. Everett has registered 41 kills and 22 blocks in 46 sets this season while Hundtoft has notched 52 kills in 34 sets played. In the Privateers' win over Alcorn State that clinched the UNO Invitational, Everett had a career-best 11.5 points on seven kills, four blocks, and one ace.

The Privateers look to close the season on a high note after taking losses to Lamar and Sam Houston State last week. Lauren Levy has 48 digs in the last four matches since moving back to libero. Levy recorded 16 digs against Sam Houston State, her second-highest total in a match this season.

The two teams met in Lake Charles on Oct. 30 with the Cowgirls taking a 3-0 decision (25-6, 25-21, 25-12). McNeese State had 10 service aces and hit .521 in the victory. McNeese State is 20-18 in the all-time series and has won the last nine contests against the Privateers.

McNeese State is led offensively Rachel Cagnina who has 294 kills on the season and is seventh in the Southland in attack percentage. The Cowgirls also have two other players over 200 kills on the year in Amber Fryer (259) and Malina Sanchez (217). Sanchez also leads the conference in aces with 66.
