Privateers Close Non-Conference Road Swing at Alabama

THE GAME:
The New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team (1-6) plays the final of a three-game road trip and the final non-conference road game against the Alabama Crimson Tide (9-4) on Sunday at Foster Auditorium. Tip is slated for 2 p.m.
 
The Privateers fell to Tulsa 78-55 on Thursday night. New Orleans shot 46.9 percent in the second half compared to just 31 percent in the first half.
 
Alabama is coming off a demonstrative 71-27 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Tuesday. The Crimson Tide have played nine of 13 games at home this season and have a 6-3 mark in Tuscaloosa. Ashley Williams is fifth in the SEC in scoring (15.5 PPG).

LAST TIME OUT:
The Privateers dug into an early hole and could not erase a 14-point halftime deficit in a 78-55 loss. New Orleans was behind by as many as 17 points before cutting the lead to single digits with 3:59 left in the first half. New Orleans went without a field goal the rest of the half and entered the locker room down 35-21. Randi Brown led the team with 16 points and Octavia Wilson added 10. Halie Matthews led the team in rebounds with eight.
 
THE OPPONENT:
Alabama will be playing their sixth straight game at home. The Crimson Tide have one loss in the home stand against Mercer. Coach Kristy Curry is in her second season with Alabama after going 14-16 a year ago.

NEXT UP:
New Orleans returns home for the final non-conference game against Kent State on Dec. 30 as part of a doubleheader. Tip is slated for 5:30 p.m. The Privateers then start conference play at home against Lamar on Jan. 5.
 
NEWS AND NOTES:
Familiar Faces:
Coach Keeshawn Davenport and Coach Curry will be facing off for the second time. The two coaches faced each other in 2012 when Curry was at Texas Tech.
 
Milestones Hit:
Octavia Wilson hit a three-pointer against Tulsa, the 50th of her collegiate career (36 games played). Mathilde Fogelstrom also appeared in her 50th game with the Privateers.
 
Warming Up:
Randi Brown has shot 41.9 percent from the field (13-31) in the last four games after shooting 16.2 percent in the first three games of the year. Brown set a new career mark with 16 points against Tulsa on Thursday and made 7-of-13 field goals.
