Privateers Begin Four-Match Home Stand

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team (4-6, 1-2 Southland) starts a four-match home stand this Friday at the Tennis Center, with the first contest against the Texas-Pan American Broncos (3-13, 1-1 WAC).  First serve is at 2 p.m.

The Privateers' most recent outing was a 7-0 loss in Thibodaux at conference foe, Nicholls State. New Orleans is on a four-match losing streak after opening conference play with a victory against Oral Roberts on Mar. 7. This marks the last non-conference match of the dual meet for the Privateers.

New Orleans has won the doubles match at the 1 position in back-to-back matches. Blake Gregor and Timo Kranz teamed for a win against Abilene Christian. Gregor paired with Gonzalo Garcia to defeat the top pair for Nicholls State, but the Privateers have lost the doubles point in each match after falling at the 2 and 3 positions.

Christoffer Appelgren has played four singles matches that have gone the full three sets. Appelgren is 2-2 in those matches after falling in three sets at the 5 position against Nicholls State's Sam Meessen. On the year, Appelgren is 5-3 in singles play.

The Privateers are 6-2 all-time against Texas-Pan American. The teams met last year with New Orleans taking a 4-3 victory over the Broncs. New Orleans has not lost a match against their opponent on Friday since the 1998-99 season.

After a 2-2 start to the dual meet, Texas-Pan American has lost nine of ten entering play. Their only win in that stretch was a 4-0 victory over Missouri-Kansas City. The Broncs are 0-4 this season against the Southland, losing twice to Incarnate Word, and once each against Lamar and Nicholls State.

The match is set to begin at 2 p.m.
