Privateers Begin Texas Road Swing at Stephen F. Austin

THE GAME:
The New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team (2-10, 0-3) enters the second week of Southland play with a two-game road swing that starts at Stephen F. Austin (9-5, 2-1) on Thursday. Tip time is slated for 5 p.m.

The Privateers capped off the first week of conference play with a 75-59 loss to Sam Houston State last Saturday. The Bearkats used the free throw line to pull away late after New Orleans led for nearly the entire first half, but went to the half tied at 32-32.
 
Stephen F. Austin rolled past Central Arkansas 73-46 in their last outing on Thursday, Jan. 8. The LadyJacks are 7-1 at home this season. Stephen F. Austin is in the top five in the Southland in scoring, field goal percentage, and scoring defense.

LAST TIME OUT:
The Privateers built a 14-point lead in the first half, but could not hold as Sam Houston State used free throws to pull away to a 75-59 win. Jewel Angelo led the team with a season-high 12 points on 5-of-12 shooting. Yasmin Taylor added a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds (eight offensive).

NEWS AND NOTES:
HEATING UP AT THE LINE:
The Privateers have hit at more than a 70 percent clip from the free throw line in each of the last three games and have gone 36-of-47 overall from the charity stripe after the first week of Southland play. In the first eight games, New Orleans achieved that mark just once.
 
BLOCKED:
Mathilde Fogelstrom added to her career block total with a career-best four blocks on Saturday against Sam Houston State. Fogelstrom moved up to 11th in the Southland in blocks per game and has 49 career blocks in 55 games.
 
TAYLOR HOLDING NEAR THE TOP:
Yasmin Taylor has continued in the top five in the conference in steals, ranking 4th currently at 2.7 steals per game. Taylor had three steals against Sam Houston State and has 32 steals on the season.
