THE GAME:
The New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team (2-12, 0-5) returns back home for the week starting with a match-up against the Central Arkansas Sugar Bears (9-8, 2-3) on Wednesday at Lakefront Arena. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.
 
The Privateers had a tough close to last week, dropping contests at Stephen F. Austin and Houston Baptist. New Orleans was held to their lowest point total in conference play in the most recent game at Houston Baptist on Saturday.
 
Central Arkansas has had nearly a week since their last outing, a 58-37 loss at the hands of Houston Baptist last Thursday. The Sugar Bears have been held under 50 points during a current three-game losing skid. Maggie Proffitt is the team's leading scorer at 12.9 points per game, but has been held to 23 total points in the last three games. Central Arkansas has the top ranked scoring defense in the conference (57.9 PPG allowed).

LAST TIME OUT:
The Privateers fell into a near nine-minute scoring drought in the first half and could not recover in a 63-45 loss to Houston Baptist. The game was tied at 10-10 midway through the first half, but the Huskies ripped off 17 straight points. Jewel Angelo had a season-high 14 points. Halie Matthews and Randi Brown each added nine points while Yasmin Taylor had seven points and eight rebounds.

NEXT UP:
The Privateers finish a home conference week with the Homecoming game against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday, Jan. 24. Tip is scheduled for 4 p.m.
 
NEWS AND NOTES:
SPARKLING JEWEL:
Jewel Angelo has more than doubled her point total in the last four games, culminating with a season-high 14 at Houston Baptist. In the last four games, Angelo has scored 38 points compared to 18 in her first 10 games.
 
WHAT A STEAL:
The Privateers recorded 10 steals and forced 20 turnovers in the last outing against Houston Baptist. On the season, New Orleans is tied for 6th in the conference in steals at 8.6 per game. Individually, Yasmin Taylor is on pace for 70 steals which would be the most in a single season since 1999-2000 (Marylou Augustin).
 
NO RUSH:
This will be the third meeting between both coaches. Keeshawn Davenport and Sandra Rushing faced each other while Rushing was at her previous stop, Delta State. This is Rushing's third season at Central Arkansas.
