THE GAME:

The New Orleans Privateer men's basketball team returns home for the first time in two weeks, taking on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a homecoming showdown presented by the Allstate Sugar Bowl this Saturday, Jan. 24, at 6:15 p.m. CT.
 
The Privateers look to regain Southland Conference momentum against the Islanders back at the Lakefront Arena where New Orleans is 4-1 on the year.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi     
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi arrives at the Lakefront Arena on a two-game win streak and have won five out of the team's last six outings. The Islanders bring in one of the top defenses in the Southland Conference, holding opponents to just 66.5 points per game.

LAST TIME OUT:
The New Orleans Privateers men's basketball team shot nearly 45 percent from the field on Monday night but couldn't hold off a tough Stephen F. Austin team, falling in Southland Conference action, 79-54. New Orleans ends the three-game road trip with a 5-9 overall record and a 1-4 league standing.

New Orleans remains at home for a Monday night game against Central Arkansas on Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. CT.
 
NEWS AND NOTES:
Vs. Corpus Christi

The Privateers have dominated the all-time series against the Islanders, leading things 6-2, while also taking the last three meetings in a row. New Orleans has also never lost at home to Corpus Christi.

Gill's Hot Hand
With six straight double-figure scoring games, sophomore Christavious Gill has remained the team's leading scorer, averaging 11.9 points per outing, giving Gill one point for nearly every two minutes of time on the court. Gill has put together an impressive offensive run of New Orleans, scoring in double-figures in 14 out of the last 16 games for the Privateers dating back to last season. On top of his scoring efforts Gill has also shared the ball well, dishing out a career-high five assists during the team's last outing at Stephen F. Austin.
 
In the Classroom
As a team New Orleans earned its highest recorded GPA in the Mark Slessinger era during the fall 2014 semester, posting a stellar 3.0 in the classroom.

Frye from the Line
With 42-of-49 makes from the stripe, Nate Frye ranks No. 2 in the Southland Conference and No. 45 in the nation in free-throw percentage with an .844 mark.
 
From the Field
New Orleans remains one of the top shooting teams in both the Southland Conference and the nation, putting the ball in the net at a 45-percent success rate. That mark ranks the Privateers at No. 118 in the country and NO. 4 in the Southland Conference.
 
Getting to the Stripe
With 27.6 free-throw attempts per game, New Orleans is currently the most proficient team in terms of getting to the line in the nation.
 
Bench Play
New Orleans has picked up solid play from the bench this season as well, earning 25.3 points per game compared to just 20 from its opponents.
