Privateers Finish Strong in Singles, Defeat Jacksonville State

RESULTS

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team (1-1) came on strong in singles to take a 4-2 victory against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks (0-2) on Saturday afternoon at the Southern Miss Tennis Courts.

The Gamecocks swept through doubles play, winning matches at the first two positions to take the first point of the day. However, New Orleans flipped the script in individual matches against the defending Ohio Valley champions.

The Privateers gained wins at the 1, 3, 4, and 5 positions in singles to rebound from dropping the doubles point. Timo Kranz set the tone with his 6-2, 6-0 win against Pedro Wagner. The Privateers also got a three-set win from Blake Gregor at 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 over Jaryd Reese.

Gonzalo Garcia and Giacomo Adoncecchi provided the other two singles wins to clear the victory. Garcia swept his opponent at 6-0 in the second set to take the win at the 3 spot. Adoncecchi picked up his first singles win of the spring by winning 6-2, 6-1 over Felipe Diaz.

The Privateers will close out the weekend by taking on Southern Miss. The match starts at 2 p.m.
