Privateers Fall at Southern Miss to Finish Weekend

RESULTS

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team (1-2) were held without a point for the first time in the dual season in a 4-0 loss to the Southern Miss Golden Eagles (3-0) on Sunday at the Southern Miss Tennis Courts.

The Privateers gained a win at the 2 position in doubles with Rui Silva and Blake Gregor defeating Alex Doleac and Daniel Merker 6-4. However, the Golden Eagles took the other two doubles matches to win the first point.

Southern Miss then carried that momentum into singles, winning the first three matches that finished and clinching the match. The final three singles matches went unfinished. Gregor, Timo Kranz, and Luis Albuquerque suffered defeats in straight sets.

With the result, the Privateers split the weekend after defeating Jacksonville State on Saturday. The Privateers will have an eight-day break before returning to the courts to face Loyola on Tuesday, Feb. 3. The match will start at 2 p.m.
