TWITTERTHE GAME:The New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team (2-8, 0-1) faces the first road Southland test against the Incarnate Word Cardinals (3-9, 0-1) on Thursday evening at the McDermott Convocation Center. Tip is slated for 6 p.m.
 
The Privateers dropped the conference opener at home to Lamar by the score of 64-54. New Orleans went to the half trailing by six, and fell behind by 15 before hitting the Lady Cardinals with a 20-4 run to take a brief lead with under nine minutes remaining. Lamar subsequently scored the next 10 points and were able to hold from there.
 
Incarnate Word enters the contest on a four-game losing skid. The Cardinals dropped their conference opener 59-55 to Sam Houston State on Saturday. Aricka Adams and Shanise Brooks each had 11 points in the loss. The Cardinals' last victory was on Dec. 10 against Texas Lutheran.

LAST TIME OUT:The Privateers opened Southland play by rallying from a 15-point second half deficit to take a lead, but hit a dry spell right after in a 64-54 loss to Lamar. 
Danielle Davis led the way with 15 points and the Privateers dominated on the glass, winning that battle 43-32. 
Yasmin Taylor posted her second career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
 
THE OPPONENT:Incarnate Word is coached by Kate Henderson in her second season at the helm. The Cardinals have lost four straight entering play. Aricka Adams is 11
th in the Southland in scoring at 13.3 points per game. The Cardinals are fifth in the conference in rebounding at 39.5 boards per game.

NEWS AND NOTES:DAVIS' BREAKOUT:
Danielle Davis turned in her first double digit scoring output of the season with 15 points. Davis also set season bests in field goals (5), field goals attempted (12), and three-pointers made (3). Monday also marked the 10
th time Davis went for double digit points as a Privateer.
 
HOLDING IT DOWN:
The Privateers held an opponent under 40 percent shooting for the fifth time this season by limiting Lamar to just 36 percent from the field. Opponents are converting at a 42.6 percent rate from the field against New Orleans this season.
 
POUNDING THE GLASS:
New Orleans pulled down 43 rebounds, their third-highest rebounding total in a game this season. The Privateers also had their second widest rebounding margin (+11) against Lamar. New Orleans has out-rebounded the opponent in four games to date.
