FIRST SERVE

The New Orleans Privateers (18-15, 7-9 Southland) will close out their regular season schedule on Monday when they face the Jackson State Tigers (11-20, 7-1 SWAC). First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Human Performance Center.

The Privateers locked up the fifth seed in the Southland tournament after the end of the conference slate on Saturday. New Orleans wound up on the top end of a four-way tie between Sam Houston State, Houston Baptist, and Southeastern by virtue of having the best head-to-head record (3-1) against those teams.

New Orleans lost their last outing 3-0 to Central Arkansas on Saturday. The Privateers were held to just 10 points and four kills in the opening set. The Privateers extended the Sugar Bears to the max in the third set, but could not complete a rally from a 24-21 deficit. Takierra Boughton finished with eight kills in 12 attempts.

Monday will also serve as Senior Night for the Privateers four seniors: Milica Zmiric, Celeste Ramirez, Lauren Levy, and Sara Hammoutene. The four players will be honored before the match.

QUICK HITS
-Levy is eight digs away from fifth on the Privateers all-time list and is third in career digs per set.
-Samantha Uline made her collegiate debut at libero on Saturday and led the team in digs with eight.
-Kaitlyn Grice added two more blocks to her season total and has 91 to lead the team. Grice has recorded a block in all but one match this season.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Jackson State comes in after a 3-1 win over Mississippi Valley State in their conference finale. Taija Thomas had 12 kills and Mikayla Rolle posted 11 to help lead the Tigers to victory. Jackson State finished with a 7-1 mark in conference and clinched the East Division title.

In the SWAC tournament, Jackson State will face off against Arkansas-Pine Bluff for the opening round. The Tigers defeated the Golden Lions 3-0 during their regular season meeting. Jackson State heads into Monday having won 10 of their last 11 matches with their only loss coming to Southern on Oct. 17.

The Privateers and Tigers have met nine times with New Orleans taking six of the nine career meetings.
