OPENING TIPThe New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team (2-3) will start a Saturday doubleheader at the Lakefront Arena and play the first of three games in five days when they face the Jackson State Lady Tigers (4-2). Tip is scheduled for 4 p.m.

The Privateers did not have a game all week due to final exams. In their last outing on Saturday, Dec. 5, New Orleans toppled Trinity Baptist 109-46 and set a new program record for widest rebounding margin in a game (+52). Five players scored in double figures including
Randi Brown and
Halie Matthews who co-led the team with 14 points each.

Danielle Wright returned last Saturday after a two-game absence due to injury. Wright pulled down three rebounds and dished out three assists in the win.
Alexis Martin missed the Trinity Baptist win due to a hand injury.

After Saturday, the Privateers have two games in quick succession. New Orleans will travel to Oxford to take on Ole Miss on Monday before returning to the Lakefront to battle NC-Greensboro on Thursday morning.

FAST BREAK-The triple digit point performance by the Privateers was their first since 1999 when they scored 105 in a win over Western Carolina.
-Brown has led or co-led the team in points in all five games and is averaging 16.8 points per contest.

Danielle Davis had her second game of five assists this season last Saturday. Davis also dished out five helpers in the Privateers' first win of the season against LSU-Alexandria.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTJackson State comes in off of their latest contest, a 74-52 victory over Blue Mountain College on Friday, Dec. 4. The Lady Tigers have moved to 4-0 at home, recording victories over Mobile, Jacksonville State, Fisk, and Blue Mountain. Kierra Adams led all Lady Tigers in points with 16 in 20 minutes of play. Jackson State had a 44-22 advantage on the boards.

Surina Dixon is in her fourth season at the helm at Jackson State. Dixon defeated the Privateers in each of her first two seasons and last year, guided the Lady Tigers to the SWAC tournament semifinals and a 10-8 record in conference play.

Derica Wiggins leads the Lady Tigers in scoring with 11.7 points per game and has made 11 three-pointers. Nine different players have started at least one game for Jackson State this season. Â As a team, the Lady Tigers have recorded 60 steals through the first six contests. Their two road losses have come at Tulane and Kentucky.
