Women's Basketball Faces Short Turnaround Against Ole Miss

The New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team (3-3) looks to continue their winning ways on Monday when they face the Ole Miss Rebels (5-4) at Tad Smith Coliseum. Tip is scheduled for 6 p.m. and video is available on SEC Network Plus.
 
The Privateers controlled the second half of an 85-68 win over Jackson State. In the victory, New Orleans outscored the Lady Tigers by 15 in the second half. Four players registered double figures in points including Randi Brown who led all scorers with 21. Kayla Mundy, Bria Platenburg, and Yasmin Taylor each added 12 points.
 
New Orleans enters the Monday tilt in the top five in the Southland in eight categories. The Privateers lead the conference in rebounds per game (49.0) and rebounding margin (+14.8). The Privateers also rank second in scoring offense, averaging 72.7 points per game.
 
This will be the first time since 2004 the Privateers and Rebels have faced each other. Ole Miss has won all seven previous meetings (three in New Orleans, four in Oxford).
 
FAST BREAK
-Danielle Davis has 10 assists in her last two games and has three contests of five assists on the year. Davis is averaging 3.2 assists per game, ninth most in the Southland.
-Taylor and Mundy are in the top five in the conference in field goal percentage. Taylor leads all Southland players, shooting at a 68.2 percent clip.
-New Orleans has recorded a higher field goal percentage than their opponent in all three wins this season.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Ole Miss comes off their lowest point total of the season in a 57-38 loss to Southern Miss on Saturday. Shandrick Sessom scored 20 points in the loss. The Rebels were held to just 21.4 percent from the field on the game (15-of-70).
 
Sessom is the leading scorer in the SEC (18.8 points per game). Sessom poured in a season-best 28 points against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Rebels have scored over 75 points in seven of nine games and are first in the conference in three-pointers made per game (8.6).
 
Monday starts a five-game home stand for the Rebels with three of those coming against Louisiana schools. After their tilt with the Privateers, Ole Miss will host Tulane, McNeese State, and Alabama A&M before opening conference play by hosting Vanderbilt.
