Men's Tennis Closes Strong to Defeat Abilene Christian

BOX SCORE

ABILENE, Texas
– The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team (3-3, 1-0) finished strong at the bottom of the rotation in singles to earn a 4-3 victory over the Abilene Christian Wildcats (2-6, 0-1) on Friday afternoon.

The day started with the Privateers earning doubles wins at the 2 and 3 spot. The tandem of Rui Silva and Blake Gregor coasted to an 8-3 win while Romain Lefevre played his first match of the spring and teamed with Giacomo Adoncecchi for an 8-5 win at #3 doubles.

In singles, the Wildcats swept the top three matches in singles. However, that's all that they would earn as the Privateers turned the tide in the back half of the rotation. It started with Gregor continuing to add to his solid spring start with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Henry Adams.

Lefevre put a cap on his solid day with a straight sets win over Paul Domanski at the 5 spot. Adoncecchi went to three sets against Marco Bensley, but prevailed to help the Privateers open Southland play with a victory.

Next up for the Privateers men is a match against Tyler JC on Sunday back home at the University Tennis Center. The match is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start.
