Privateers Enter Final Third of Conference Slate Thursday at Southeastern

THE GAME:
The New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team (3-18, 1-11) enters the final third of conference play starting Thursday evening when they face the Southeastern Lady Lions (7-16, 3-9) at the University Center. Tip is slated for 7 p.m.
 
The Privateers did not have a weekend game after falling last Thursday to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi by the count of 66-52. This is the first of two meetings against Southeastern with the return trip taking place on Mar. 5.
 
Southeastern fell just shy of a school record and were out-paced 93-80 against Nicholls in their last outing. The Lady Lions connected on 15 threes in the loss, one short of tying the school record. Five players reached double figures in the losing effort. Elizabeth Styles enters the Southland leader in assists (6.2 APG).

LAST TIME OUT:
The Privateers fell behind by 22 at halftime and lost 66-52 at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. New Orleans was out-scored 34-14 in the paint and out-rebounded 38-25. Randi Brown went for her third straight game in double figures, leading the way with 17 points (6-15 FG). Halie Matthews chipped in with eight points.

NEXT UP:
The Privateers begin a four-game home stand on Thursday, Feb. 26 against Nicholls. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m.
 
NEWS AND NOTES:
DANDY RANDI:
Randi Brown has poured in 48 points in her last three games and is shooting just under 44 percent from the field in that span. Brown had been held to single digits in nine consecutive games prior. Brown posted 17 points, one shy of tying her career-high.
 
TAYLOR MADE:
Yasmin Taylor has hauled in 75 offensive rebounds this season, fifth most in the Southland to date. Taylor leads the team in rebounding, and is averaging close to 7.0 RPG. Only four Privateers have averaged at least seven boards per game in a season since 1997.
 
FAMILIAR FACES:
The Privateers enter the final six games of the regular season, and will face two opponents twice. New Orleans will face Southeastern on Thursday then again for the final home game of the regular season on Mar. 5. The Privateers also have two meetings against Northwestern State in a span of 14 days.
