Men's Tennis Heads to Lafayette to Face Ragin' Cajuns

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team (4-3, 1-0) takes back to the road for an in-state battle against the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns (4-5, 2-0) on Friday evening at the Cajun Courts.

The Privateers have won back-to-back matches entering play after opening conference with a victory at Abilene Christian and defeating Tyler JC on Sunday. New Orleans is seeking for three consecutive dual victories for the first time since Feb. 2013, a span where they defeated Nicholls, Prairie View A&M, and Lamar.

Blake Gregor was recognized by the Southland as the Player of the Week. Gregor completed a 4-0 weekend and is now 9-2 between singles and doubles on the spring season while playing mostly at the 4 position in the rotation.

The back end of the rotation has proven strong and has made the difference for the Privateers in last week's victories. The players at 4 through 6 each won singles matches against Abilene Christian and the 3 through 6 spots in the rotation picked up wins vs. Tyler.

The Cajuns have endured a tough schedule to start the season, facing three ranked teams in the spring. That includes a match against top-ranked USC and another match at 6th-ranked Baylor. The Cajuns have not hit the court since winning two matches in two days against Georgia State and Xavier (La.) on Feb. 6.

Leading the Cajuns in wins is freshman, Vlad Kramarov who has a 5-4 mark on the spring. Louisiana-Lafayette has three freshmen who have appeared in the spring. The Cajuns have used 13 different combinations in doubles so far this season.
