THE GAME:The New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team (4-18, 2-11) returns home off their first road victory of the season to start a four-game home stand against the Northwestern State Lady Demons (13-12, 8-6) on Saturday at Lakefront Arena. Tip is scheduled for 4 p.m.

The Privateers saw a 13-point halftime lead shrink to one with 4:25 left on Thursday at Southeastern, but New Orleans held off a late charge and used free throws at the end to pull away to a 76-64 victory on Thursday night. It was the first road win for the Privateers since Feb. 9, 2013.

Northwestern State was held to their third lowest point total of the season in a 59-40 loss against Nicholls on Thursday. The Lady Demons shot just 25.9 percent in the loss and leading scorer, Janelle Perez was held to 2-of-13 from the field. Northwestern State has the third-best scoring defense in the Southland (61.8 points per game allowed).

Randi Brown poured in 30 points while
Halie Matthews landed just shy of a double-double (19 points, 9 rebounds).
Kayla Mundy also recorded her first double-digit scoring output with 11 points.

30 IS THE NEW 21:
Randi Brown became the first Privateer to score 30 points in a game since Feb. 3, 2012 (Keri Thomas vs. Mobile) in Thursday's win. Brown's scoring average jumped from 8.8 to 9.7 and she has four straight games with double figures in points. Brown's previous high was 18 in the first game of that stretch against McNeese State.

A LONG AND WINDING ROAD:
The Privateers earned their first road win of the season and their first since Feb. 9, 2013 when they defeated Houston Baptist. New Orleans had gone 32 straight games without a road victory before the triumph at Southeastern. The win Thursday also snapped a six-game losing streak against the Lady Lions.
POSTING UP:
Halie Matthews has also started to catch fire of late, dropping a career high 19 points against Southeastern. Matthews has averaged 13.0 points per game in the last five contests. In that span, Matthews is shooting 47.2 percent from the field (25-of-53).
