Men's Tennis Returns to Action Against Nicholls

NEW ORLEANS, La. –The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team (4-4, 1-0) returns to conference play as they face the Nicholls Colonels (1-5, 0-0) on Friday at the University Tennis Center. The match is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start and free pizza and drinks will be available.

The Privateers had a mid-week match against Xavier postponed on Wednesday due to rain. New Orleans' last time on the court was in a 5-2 loss at Louisiana-Lafayette on Friday, Feb. 20. The Privateers are 2-1 so far this season at home with the lone loss coming against BYU.

Blake Gregor is carrying a four-match winning streak in singles to the contest. Gregor is 6-1 in singles on the spring. Gregor has also teamed up with Rui Silva at the 2 position in doubles to earn a 4-2 mark this season. In singles, Gregor has been used at the 4 position in every match.

The Privateers and Colonels have met three times in history with New Orleans taking two of those contests. The Colonels won the last meeting between both teams, in a 7-0 decision on Mar. 19, 2014. The debut meeting between the two teams happened in postseason play with New Orleans defeating Nicholls in the semifinals of the Southland Conference Tournament.

The Colonels dropped all three matches in the Troy Jamboree last weekend. Two of those losses came by 4-3 margins to Troy and South Carolina State. The other loss was a 6-1 defeat at the hands of Georgia Southern on Friday. The Colonels' lone win this spring came against Texas-Pan American.
