Privateers Ready for Penultimate Home Game Against Abilene Christian

THE GAME:
The New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team (5-19, 3-12) heads back to action on Saturday when they take on the Abilene Christian Wildcats (16-10, 8-7) at Lakefront Arena. Tip is scheduled for 4 p.m.
 
The Privateers have won three of their last five and come in off a 68-63 win against Nicholls back on Thursday. New Orleans is two back of the eighth spot in the conference with three games still to play. In the win on Thursday, New Orleans shot 42.9 percent, tying their second most efficient night from the field this season.
 
Abilene Christian is on a hot streak of their own, having won their last five. The Wildcats most recently defeated Houston Baptist 68-53 on Thursday. Sydney Shelstead scored 27 points and Alexis Mason added 20 in the win. The Wildcats have held three opponents under 60 points in their five-game winning streak.

The Privateers took a back-and-forth battle, defeating Nicholls 68-63. The game featured eight ties and 17 lead changes. Danielle Davis put New Orleans ahead for good, draining a three-pointer with 3:00 left to give the Privateers a one-point lead. Randi Brown poured in 27 points on 11-of-19 from the field. Raven Coleman threw down a double-double with 12 points and a career high 13 rebounds. Halie Matthews had to leave the game after nine minutes due to injury.

NEXT UP:
The Privateers will play their final home game on Thursday, Mar. 5 against Southeastern. Tip is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
 
NEWS AND NOTES:
A HELPING HAND:
New Orleans went for a season-high 13 assists in Thursday's win after averaging 7.8 assists per game as a team coming in. Danielle Davis led the way individually with five assists. Ariele Davis also added three assists in the win.
 
BREAKING THE STRING:
The Privateers snapped a five-game losing streak to Nicholls with the win on Thursday night. New Orleans had a similar story line in their win over Southeastern, breaking a six-game losing streak against the Lady Lions.
 
QUOTE THE RAVEN:
Raven Coleman went for her third double-double of the season and the fourth of her career on Thursday, posting 12 points and 13 rebounds. Coleman also played 36 minutes, which was a season high. Coleman had played fewer than 20 minutes in each of her last eight appearances.
