Privateers Fall 4-0 at Mississippi State

BOX SCORE

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team (2-3) could not match the 28th-ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs (7-2), falling 4-0 on Saturday evening at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Center.

The Bulldogs raced to the doubles point, taking a 6-1 victory at the 3 position when Julian Cash and Robin Haden defeated Giacomo Adoncecchi and Gonzalo Garcia. An injury halted the match at the 1 position with the Bulldogs' top pair of Juan Cruz Estevarana and Florian Lakat leading Timo Kranz and Christoffer Appelgren 2-0.

In singles, the Bulldogs ended the first three matches in their favor. Estevarana defeated Rui Silva at the 2 position. Mississippi State then picked up wins at the 5 and 6 spot to seal the match. The other three singles matches went unfinished.

That included Blake Gregor who was in a tight battle with 63rd-ranked Tassilo Schmid. Gregor had lost the first set at 7-5, but was up 2-1 in the second set when the match was called. For the Bulldogs, it was their second win of the day after defeating Samford earlier.

New Orleans heads back to the court this coming Friday when they face their first conference foe in Abilene Christian. The match is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start.
